   Mr. Foree came to Nebraska in May, 1879, and in September of that year, he entered the Nebraska State University, from which institution be graduated in June, 1886, with the degree of A. B. While in the University be became Captain of Co. B, University cadets, and occupied a prominent place in the military work of the school.
   Mr. Foree has served as Mayor of the city of Tekamah for two terms also as City Clerk and has been one of the Members of the Board of Education.
   Mr. Foree was united in marriage December 15th, 1890, to Miss Susie B. Cooper, of this city.

   S. C. BROOKS was born February 12th, 1847, in Erie county, Ohio. He came to Decatur, this county, October, 1865. After remaining there one year he went to Omaha from which place he returned to his old home in Ohio. He returned again to Decatur in 1869 and in 1870 purchased the farm in Silver Creek on which he resided so many years, removing to Tekamah in 1890.
   Mr. Brooks enlisted in the war of the rebellion at the age of fourteen years serving from 1861 to 1865. He was wounded at Gettysburg but recovered in time to accompany Sherman to the sea. Since coming to Burt county he has taken much interest in public affairs and has been called upon to serve the county as Supervisor for several years.
   Mr. Brooks was united in marriage March 25th, 1873, to Miss Mary Force, of Belle Creek township.

   ALBERT R. TAYLOR was born January 4th, 1855, at Leon, Decatur county, Iowa. At four years of age he accompanied his parents to Mercer County, Missouri, At the breaking out of the war the family removed to Hancock county, Illinois, and later to Jasper county, Iowa, where Mr. Taylor grew to manhood. In February, 1898. he removed to Burt county, settling in Arizona township, and in the fall of 1900 moved to this city. For twelve years Mr. Taylor traveled for a

Harvester company but is now engaged in auctioneering and real estate business.
   Mr. Taylor was united in marriage July 17th, 1876, to Miss Rena Young.

   WALTER M. WHITE was born September 24th, 1852, at Salem, Indiana. Here he grew to manhood coming to Tekamah in April, 1879. When first coming here he engaged in the livery business but later entered upon farming and stock feeding which he is following at the present time. Mr. White helped build two miles of the railroad between Tekamah and Oakland in the fall of 1879. He hauled the first twenty-two car loads of lumber used in the building of the new town of Oakland and ran a nine mule freight to Oakland during the fall and winter of '79 also buying and shipping live stock. Since residing in Tekamah Mr. White has taken much interest in local affairs and served from 1880 to 1882 as a member of the city council.
   Mr. White was united in marriage May 1st, 1873, to Miss L. B. Rodman.

   SIDNEY S. SKINNER was born November 14th, 1846, in Nova Scotia. From there he moved to Portland, Maine, where he resided one year, and then to Alden, New York. where he resided until March, 1878, when he came to Tekamah. Mr. Skinner takes much pride in Burt county and Nebraska, feeling that he has been a factor in its upbuilding. He helped in building the railroad between this city and Oakland in 1879 and says he has seen "fine towns grow up along the line; seen the barren trackless prairie laid out with good roads bordered by stately trees; seen waving corn covering the ground where once grew the sunflower and rag weed; seen the one story wooden buildings in this city replaced by large brick blocks and the erection of a fine thirty thousand dollar school building to replace a small frame one."
