I attended District 41 in Howard County. This one room school was located just to the east of St. Libory, Nebraska. I first attended this school in the fall of 1960, and completed my 8th grade there. In 1960 there were 14 students attending, but either from moving or graduating in 1961 there were only 3 of us.... with the teacher being 4. It has been told to me that this school was transported to St. Paul Nebraska some years ago, and is apparently included in a museum there. I have not been there, nor have I see the museum. The teacher was Mrs. Mamot. The three students were myself, Carol Kathleen Staack, my 6 year old brother, Robert Walter Staack, and Dale Trentman. We were in grades 8, 3 and 6. One room schools are a historical treasure, and it is my personal feeling that we need to return to this method of instruction.
