Putnam ALDRICH, Private, born Lisbon; resided and credited Franconia; enlisted July 28, 1862, age 28; mustered in Aug.19, 1962; wounded Sept. 17, Antietam, MD; July 1863 Gettysburg, PA., discharged disabled Nov.20, 1863,Concord. Putnam died 14 April 1867 from complications from his war wounds, having spent three rainy days wounded out in the battlefield. He died of lung failure. He is buried in Willow Cemetery, Franconia, NH. [Henry and Putnam were related to each other only through marriage. Henry's wife Zilpha Howland and Putnam's brother Henry's wife Marcelia Howland were sisters. But I'm sure they were "commrades in arms" while serving together.
