Thomas (4 Jan 1844 - 22 Aug 1924) Mrs. Thomas
Dillion, age 80 years, passed away at her home Friday evening at
six o’clock. Up to two weeks before her death, Mrs. Dillion
enjoyed the best of health. At that time she caught a cold, which
caused pneumonia. Her daughter, Mrs. Dan McCarthy of Fond du Lac,
was sent for soon after she became ill, and was with her until the
end. Mrs. Dillion was
born in Dublin, Ireland Jan. 4, 1844, and came to this country with
her parents three years later. They settled in Clymon, Wis., where
she spent the early years of her life. In 1866 she met and married
Thomas A. Dillion at Oak Grove, Wis. After a few years in Minnesota
and Kansas, Mr. and Mrs. Dillion came back to Wisconsin and were
some of the very first settlers in Abbotsford, Wis. in 1872.
Ireland in 1844 Of their eight
children, there are six living: Thomas in Oregon; Albert in
Chippewa Falls; Mrs. H. Parkhurst, Phillips’ Mrs. Mary
Taylor, Abbotsford; Mrs. Laura McCarthy, Chehale, Wash; Mrs. Dan
McCarthy, Fond du Lac. There are nine grandchildren: Myra and
Delbert Dillion, Chippewa Falls; Mrs. Fred Kieling and Jessie
Taylor of Pittsburgh, Penn.; Mrs. Dillion was the oldest of four
children and she is the last one. The funeral took
place at nine o’clock Monday morning from St. Bernard’s
Catholic Church, Rev. Eisenmann officiating. Burial took place at
the Abbotsford Cemetery. The Tribune and
the many friends join in with the Dillion family in the loss of
