Carlson, Alma (30 Nov. 1866 - 10 Aug. 1958)
Mrs. Alma Carlson, a resident of the Town of Brighton for many years, passed away Sunday evening at the Havenet Nursing Home at Owen, Wisconsin where she had been a patient the past year. She was 91 years of age.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Unity, of which she was a member for 54 years. The Rev. Robert Langseth officiated and burial was made in the Trinity Lutheran cemetery.
Mrs. Carlson was born in Smolane Sweden, November 30, 1866, and came to the United States, to Chicago, Ill., in 1884, where she was married to Adolph E. Carlson in September, 1892. They came to Unity in 1904, and developed a farm four miles south of Unity in the Town of Brighton.
She was a past president of the Trinity Ladies Aid, an honorary life-member of the Women’s Missionary Society of the Lutheran Augustana Synod, and an honorary member of the Trinity Lutheran Ladies Aid.
She is survived by four sons, Paul Carlson, Whitewater; Gustave and Oscar Carlson, Unity; and George Carlson, West Allis; five daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Elsie) Dostal, Mrs. Edna Berieske, Wahiawa, Oahu, Hawaii; Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Smith, Lake Mills; Mrs. Dr. E. O. (Esther) Schimmel, Whitewater; Mrs. Norman (Bernice) Helterhoff, West Allis; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Beda Lindgren, Los Angeles, California.
