Kobs, August F. (9 Mar. 1881 - 2 Mar. 1961)
Funeral services for August F. Kobs, who died at his home in the town of Colby Thursday night, March 2, at 11:15 P.M., at the age of 79 years, were held at the Lulloff Funeral Home Sunday afternoon at 1:30, Rev. Robert Langseth, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church at Unity, Wisconsin, officiating, and internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery. Pall bearers were Art Bielke, Raymond Kobs, Carl Gosse, Adolph Reimer, Martin Reimer and Fred Hartke, all nephews.
Mr. Kobs was born at Hilbert, Wis., on March 9, 1881, where he attended school. He married Bertha Koeppen on April 26, 1911, at Green Grove. He came to this area when a young man and worked as a carpenter. He farmed on his present farm for nearly 60 years.
Surviving are his wife; four daughters, Sylvia of Spencer, Mrs. Leroy (Dorothy) Thede of Marshfield, Mrs. David (Orine) Kademan of Curtiss; two sons, Roger and Norman of Colby; four grand daughters. Three brothers and three sisters preceded him in death.
Mr. Kobs was well known for his fine Christian character with industrious and honest habits, and, being of a kindly and friendly disposition, had many friends who were sorry to hear of his death.
