Ringquist, Gust P. (21 Nov. 1880 - 3 July 1961)

Gust P. Ringquist, pioneer Marathon County resident, died of old age complications at the Marshfield, Wisconsin Hospital shortly before 5:00 A.M. Monday at the age of 80 years. Funeral services were held in the Trinity Lutheran church at Unity, Wisconsin Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Robert Langseth officiating, and internment was made in the parish cemetery.

Mr. Ringquist was born on November 21, 1880, at Des Moines, Iowa, the son of original settlers of the Scandinavian settlement between Spencer and Unity, Wis. He attended the Romeo School and was married on November 17, 1904 to Julia Williamson, who died on August 13, 1955. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1954. After their marriage they began farming on the Ringquist homestead which they purchased later. They made their home there until 1945, when they retired and moved to Unity, Wis.

For many years before his retirement, Mr. Ringquist was road commissioner for the town of Brighton. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Unity and served on its board of Administration for two terms. He also served on the church cemetery committee.

Surviving are a son, Lloyd Ringquist of Spencer; a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Eleanor) Budde of Colby, Route 2; four grand children; four great grand children; a sister, Mrs. Edith Schjonneman of Unity; three brothers, Anton Ringquist of Owen and James Ringquist and Earl Ringquist, both of Spencer, Wisconsin, Route 2.

Preceding him in death were three brothers, Ole, Charles and August Ringquist; a sister, Mrs. James (Hulda) Hodge and three sisters who died in infancy.
