Lee, Robert E. (12 April 1895 - 27 August 1953) 
 

Robert E. Lee, 58, 3744 Edmund Blvd, Minneapolis, Minn. once a Neillsville printer, died Monday, August 27, at his home after several months illness.   
 

Funeral services were held August 31, at 2 p.m. from the Listoe and Wold Chapel in St. Paul.  Masonic services, under the auspices of the Ancient Landmark Lodge No. 5, were conducted.  Interment was in the Acacia Park Cemetery in St. Paul.  
 

Mr. Lee was born April 12, 1895, at Fifield, Wis., to Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Lee.  He came to Neillsville when he was three years old and attended the city schools.  After finishing his schooling he learned the printing trade under L. Williamson, editor of the old Neillsville Press.  In 1919 he went to St. Paul to work for Dispatch Printing Co. and at the time of his death he had been superintendent of the composing room for the last 17 years.  
 

He was a member of the Congregational Church; member of Blue Lodge, A. F. & M.; Minnesota Chapter No. 1 Royal Arch Masons; St. Paul Council No. 1; Damascus Commandery and Osman Temple AAONMS and was active in the American Legion.  He served in the First World War. 
 

He was married June 24, 1916, to Marie Wellers of Platteville, who taught in the Neillsville schools at one time.  They had no children. 
 

Surviving him besides his widow are two sisters, Mr. L. C. Woodward and Mrs. Herbert L. Brown, both of Neillsville, and a nephew F. L. Woodward of Chicago. 
 

Those from out of town attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Woodward, Mr. and Mrs. Herbert L. Brown, Neillsville; Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Woodward, Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Taylor and daughter, Madison; Miss Georgia Wellers, Bert Wellers, Frank Platt and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sheppard, all of Platteville.
