Mrs. Sophia Frank died at the home of her son Chars near the Cotton school house on Wednesday afternoon. Burial will be held in the Mentor Cemetery on Saturday. Mrs. Frank was a native of Germany born September 18, 1951. She had made her home with her son for a number of years.

Pierce, Eliza A. (23 JUL 1875 - 31 JAN 1919)

The funeral of Mrs. Austin Pierce was held at Fairchild, Eau Claire Co., Wis. last Sunday afternoon, and was attended by a number of relatives and friends from here. Burial was in the Fairchild Cemetery. Rev. J. B. Braddock officiated.

Eliza Ann Buckley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Buckley, was born in Clark County, Wis., near the Cotton School House, five miles north of Humbird, on July 23, 1875, and died at her home in Fairchild on Jan. 31, 1919, aged 43 years, 6 months and 8 days. She was united in marriage with Austin Pierce on March 21, 1890. To this union were born ten children, all of whom survive. She is also survived by her husband, mother, three sisters and two brothers, and a number of other relatives.

Selz, Ferdinand (1857? - 1 NOV 1927)

Ferdinand Selz, a long time resident on the farm at the old Cotton School corners, died at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire Tuesday. He was operated on Saturday for appendicitis. Burial services were held this Friday morning at St. Joseph’s Church at Fairview.

Some of the senior citizens from here and of the surrounding territory may be interested in this item: Michael Tower of 601 So. Ave. A., Port Ales, N. M., is much interested in tracing some of his relatives.  Mrs. Sam Jones, deceased, whose maiden name was Cotton, is one of their aunts, once lived on the farm now occupied by the Martin family with the Cotton family. Edith Cotton married Ben Pierce and is now seriously ill in Washington State.  Maybe someone would also remember the Cottons, who lived in the Cotton School District in the now northern portion of the Town of Mentor. Would be of interest to know if both Cotton families; were relatives.
