Jerry Charles Cervenka, Elkhorn, WI (September 3, 1932 - October 4, 2013)

Jerry Charles Cervenka, 81, of Grant Street, Elkhorn, WI, stepped into glory to meet his Savior on Friday morning, Oct. 4, 2013, at his home. He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren at the time. He passed peacefully, amidst the celebration of all that his life on earth had meant, and the assurance of the reunion with his wife, Dorthy, who had preceded him in death in September 2012. The certainty of their reunion rests in the assurance of eternal life for those who have asked Jesus to be their Savior.

Jerry was born Sept. 3, 1932, in Neillsville, WI. He was the son of the late Jerry and Josephine (Lucas) Cervenka. Jerry married his best friend, Dorthy Bolton, on Sept. 6, 1952, in Elkhorn, at the First Baptist Church of Elkhorn. They lived together as best friends and lovers for 60 years. Their relationship and the way that Jerry loved Dorthy was an example and inspiration to many other couples. Jerry worked as a welder at A. O. Smith in Elkhorn, for many years and finished his working life at USG in Walworth. He was a member of the Community Church of Elkhorn.

Jerry is survived by his children: Candice Cervenka of Elkhorn, WI, Chuck and his wife, Karen, of Delavan, WI, and Cathy Jo and her husband, Mark Hoppe, also of Delavan. He is further survived by five grandchildren in whose life he had tremendous impact and influence. They are Tess, Trish, Charlie (Brook) Cervenka, Nicholas Cervenka, and Christy Hoppe. There are also three great-grandchildren: Elliana, Gwenyth, and Georgia Cervenka. He is also survived by two sisters, Millie (Doug) Bowman of Delavan, WI, and Violet (Bob) Wenzel of Darien, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at CALVARY COMMUNITY CHURCH in Williams Bay, WI, with Pastor Bob Peiffer and Pastor Chuck Cervenka officiating. Family will receive friends Saturday at the CHURCH from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. A light meal will follow.

To sign the on-line guest registry, please go to www.haaselockwoodfhs.com

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Calvary Community Church. The memorial will, then, be used to help support Dave and Chris Goff with Victory Ministries in Alaska. They were special friends of Dad.

The Cervenka family wishes to thank Tim and Daniel of HAASE-LOCKWOOD & ASSOCIATES FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY of Elkhorn, for their assistance and for the special care they took with our dad.
