ILLNESS FATAL TO WILLIAM BRAUN, 92
FUNERAL OF GREENWOOD RESIDENT SCHEDULED FOR TUESDAY AFTERNOON
Greenwood--William Braun, 92, whose several days illness was attributed to old age complications, died at 10 a.m. New Year's Day at his home, 8 miles northwest of Greenwood.
Funeral rites are scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the home and at 2 o'clock at Braun Settlement Reformed Church. The Rev. B. M. Fresenborg will officiate, and burial will be made in the church cemetery.
Mr. Braun was born in Germany May 24, 1851, and after coming to the United States in 1873, settled in Sheboygan, where he married Emilie Horn April 14, 1880. Shortly after their marriage, the Brauns came to Greenwood, settling on a farm 9 miles northwest of Greenwood, Clark County, occupied by his son Edward since 1914.
His wife died Jan. 31, 1938, and also preceding him in death were two daughters, Mrs. Olga Vollrath and Mrs. Selma Alperstett two sisters, Miss Eva Braun and Mrs. Tena Horn and three brothers, Gottfried, Christ and Fred Braun.
Surviving relatives include two sons, Edward of Greenwood and Elmer of Sacramento Calif. two daughters, Mrs. Theodore (Minnie) Knifke and Mrs. Norman (Setonia) Mitchell, both of Chicago one sister, Mrs. Louisa Horn, Greenwood eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Mr. Braun was a charter member of the Braun Settlement Salem Reformed Church, which was organized Sept. 10, 1893.
