Died, at
Darlington, La Fayette Co., Wis. of consumption, Dr. M. M. Towsley,
of Olivet, Pierce Co., aged 74 years and 11 months.
Deceased was the father of Mrs. James Sturdevant and the late Mrs.
J. A. Kimball and has several relatives residing in Neillsville,
Clark County. He resided here many years ago and practiced.

Dr. Mathew Monson & Jane (Twining) Tousley
Weston, Clark Co., Wisconsin
Dr. Tousley and his wife were some of the earliest settlers of Clark County. Mathew Monson Tousley was born March 16, 1814 in Salisbury, Litchfield, Connecticut, the son Reuben and Mary (Green) Tousley. He married Jane Twining in Waterloo, Jefferson County, Wisconsin, February 24, 1862. She was born in Erie County, New York, September 14, 1822. They were living in Weston Township, Clark Co., Wisconsin when the 1870 Census was taken. Mathew's occupation was recorded as Physician and Farmer.
Mathew died February 3, 1889 in Darlington, Lafayette, Wisconsin. His funeral was held at the Presbyterian Church in Neillsville, Wisconsin and the family contents he and Jane were both buried in the Neillsville City Cemetery, but we have not been able to confirm that.
