Father Francis Rushman officiated at the marriage ceremony at St. Mary's
Catholic Church in Colby when Bonnie Weis of Minneapolis became the bride of
Michael Jelinek, also of Minneapolis.
Sister Patricia provided the organ music and the church choir sang at the 1 p.m.
wedding on October 10, 1970.
Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Donald Weis of route 1, Unity, and Mr.
and Mrs. Marvin Jelinek of route 2, Richland Center.
The bride's sisters, Beverly, Linda, and Diane of route 1, Unity, were her
attendants, with Beverly being the maid of honor.
The best man for the bridegroom was David Jelinek of Minneapolis. His attendants
were Victor and Jeffery Jelinek, route 2, Richland Center. They are all brothers
of the groom.
Carrying red roses, white pompons and blue baby's breath, the bride wore an
entrained floor length gown of peau de soie and Chantilly lace. Lace cuffs
completed the long Lady Bishop sleeves and the low neckline was adorned with
Chantilly lace. A bow in the back was featured on the empire waistline. Her
matching petal tear drop headpiece held the four tier fingertip veil.
The bride's sisters floor length formal shad dark blue velvet bodices and light
blue organza skirts. Venetian lace trimmed the low necklines and the short
sleeves. Detachable trains matched the bow headpieces. They carried bouquets of
red roses and white pompons.
Guests gather at the Spencer Municipal Hall for a reception following the
ceremony. Dinner was served at the basement of St. Mary's Church, and the party
returned to the municipal hall for dancing.
A graduate of Colby High School in 1968, the bride completed a one year course
at the Wester Wisconsin Technical Institute at La Crosse. She is employed at the
J.C. Penney Company in Minneapolis as a mail clerk.
The bridegroom graduated in 1967 from Richland Center High School and attended
the technical institute in La Crosse, completing a two year course in machine
tool operation. He is presently employed as a machine apprentice at FMC Northern
Ordinance Division in Minneapolis.
Following a one week stay at a resort in northern Wisconsin, the couple is now
at home at Apartment 25, 2652 Marshall Street, N.E., Minneapolis, Minnesota –
55418.
