When going through my grandmother's photo last year, I had discover these. I had asked her about them and all she told me was that someone wanted to go see them race so they did. From what I recall she mention there wasn't anyone in the family who raced. Believed it took place in Clark County, Wis. I thought maybe someone has a nice story to tell to go with these photos. The original picture was purchased at an auction for a loyal rural school by the Motel owners who understood it to be one of the former teachers. Could this possibly be a daughter of Emanuel Lewis? |

This bridge photo has a back stamp of photographer, J. E. Gearing, Loyal WI. The nameplate on the bridge reads "1887 King Iron Bridge Co. Cleveland O". It is a single span wagon bridge over a creek possibly near Loyal or Greenwood. Assuming it was taken soon after construction, J. E. Gearing would have been operating in 1887-1888. |
