Dental Clinic groundbreaking to take place this fall
By Peter Spicer
Groundbreaking or a Neillsville dental Clinic catering to children and adults who need assistance in dental care if scheduled to take place this fall.
The Family Health Center and Marshfield Clinic Executive Committee boards put the final approval on the Neillsville Clinic project earlier this month to “move forward aggressively” with the project, said Family Health Center of Marshfield Director Greg Nycz.

The dental clinic will be located on three acres of property south of the Neillsville American Legion on Boon Boulevard, said Neillsville Mayor Diane Murphy.
Groundbreaking will take place before winter, although a specific date has not been set, said Nycz.
The tentative date to open the dental clinic is July 1, 2009, said Nycz, who added up to 30 professionals will be hired to treat over 6,000 patients within the first three years of the clinic opening.
Family Health Center will purchase the land and have the building constructed, said Nycz.
The clinic will allow Neillsville’s Memorial Medical Center to collaborate with the dental clinic to help curb a “raging epidemic of oral health problems and help prevent problems before they start, said Nycz.
The Common Council, Economic Development Commission and planning Commission approved supporting the project in June.
The city of Neillsville partnered with State Representative Scott Suder (R-Abbotsford), Memorial Medical Center and Family Health Center of Marshfield to establish the clinic, which will assist poor and disadvantaged children and adults with oral health problems who are currently not being served.
The city had partnered with Family Health Center to insure the facility was built to the Family Health Center’s requirements. In return, Neillsville will retain an upper-level skilled workforce with competitive wages for people who will live and work in the Neillsville area. All dentists will be fulltime.
“It’s going to help so many people,” concluded Murphy.
