The Golden Anniversary Jubilee

St. John's Lutheran Church

Neillsville, Wisconsin--September 6, 1936 

Yes, we have much to be thankful for at the time of this Golden Jubilee.  For fifty years the Lord has graciously preserved our dear St. John’s Lutheran School.  This is a fact worthy of much consideration.  However is that all He has done?  No!  Our God has been more gracious with us.  He has preserved not only the School.but also the health of three generations of pupils who have attended the School, so that they are still with us today. The three generations are Mrs. Fred Schroeder, her daughter, Mrs. Marie Ott, and in turn her daughter, Miss Ruth Ott.  These have chosen as Mary did, namely, the wiser part, s she sat at the feet of her Lord and Savior, Jesus.

THREE GENERATIONS

In St. John’s Lutheran School – 1886-1936

We look back upon fifty years of service to the Lord and His church. The training the School has given the youth of this congregation undoubtedly has done much to mold its character.  If the School was a necessity in the past, how much more so is it a necessity in our present day.   We are now living in a state of uncertainty.  All about us institutions which we felt were as solid as rocks have tumbled about us right and left. Even our gold which was a symbol of stability has become illegal and of doubtful value.  Children today face a world of problems greater and more complex than their parents faced.  How much more necessary it is, therefore, that they be thoroughly grounded upon that Rock, Christ Jesus, who wishes to be the Cornerstone of each individual’s life as He is the Cornerstone of the Church.  May He, the Shepherd of the flock, grant His blessings and grace to St. John’s Lutheran School of Neillsville, its pastors, its teachers, its homes represented in it, so the Word of God may continue to dwell in us and our children abundantly until we all become as one in Him who has been, is, and will be to all Eternity, the Way, the Truth, and the Light.

THE “L” CLUB

“L” Club is a shortened name for the Luther Club.  What a fine name for an active organization of seventh and eighth grade Lutheran boys and girls!

The “L” Club was organized under Mr. Sievert’s direction during the school term of 1934-35.  It meets every two weeks during the school year.  The purpose of the club is both social and educational.  In the past two years the “L” Club has become quite popular among the pupils of seventh and eighth grade school age in our congregation.  It has partaken in charity work in a minor way, has made small but necessary school improvements, and has offered its membership many forms of social entertainment.  May it remain in our midst and prove itself a blessing to our congregation.
