Orpah Gibson

October 30, 1820 - July 26, 1886

Born in Orangeville, New York,[i] Orpah (nee Webster) Gibson was a pioneer of York Township and a wife to Samuel L. Gibson.  It is believed that the Gibsons came to Clark County from Fond du Lac County circa 1870s.  The 1870 Federal Census for Fond du Lac County lists an Orpah Gibson (49) living in Forest Township with her husband, Samuel and a daughter Martha A. (14).  The 1880 Federal Census for Clark County lists an Orpah Gibson (59) living in York Township with her husband, Samuel (64). Their daughter Martha was the wife of Charles H., "Charley" Campbell.  Both Charley and Martha Campbell were also early settlers of York Township.  Martha (nee Gibson) Campbell is buried in Neillsville Cemetery.[ii]
