Einfeldt, Frederick W. (23 Sep 1833 - 13 APR 1916)
The angel of death has once again visited us and taken another of the old residents from our midst in the person of F.W. Einfeldt, who for a number of years has made his home north of town (Greenwood, Clark County, Wis.), having moved here from Chicago in the year 1895 and purchased the farm which now constitutes the homestead. He was born in Holstein, Germany, Sep 23, 1833, and came to America in the year 1861. He was married twice, his first wife dying soon after their marriage. He leaves to mourn his decease five children: Mrs. Boyle of Butte, Mont., Miss Lydia, who has taken care of the home here, Richard and Geo. Of this place, and Albert of Duluth, Minn.; also twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Early in life he found Jesus Christ as his savior, joined the Baptist Church and remained a devoted member of that body until the time of his decease, which took place April 13, 1916 at the ripe old age of 82 years. The funeral cortege was representative of the esteem which he and his family is held in the community.
It took place from his late residence Sunday afternoon April 16. The service being held in the Baptist church and thence to the city cemetery, where he was laid to rest beside his wife who preceded him but a few years. The family has the sympathy of not only the immediate friends, but all who are privileged to know them. The service was conducted by Rev. S.E. Sweet and Pastor S.R. Dunlop of the Baptist Church. Burial took place in the Greenwood Cemetery.

I have been researching F. W. Einfeldt family history. In your
summary of their family history I read that you have an Elizabeth
Einfeldt that married Edward Grimm on Jan. 2, 1942. My research
shows that F. W. Einfeldt raised his grandchildren, the Zaffke
children; Moses, Benjamin, Josephine and Myrtle, and I know they
graduated from High School there. Also, on their death records
Elizabeth Einfeldt is listed as their mother. Are there two
Elizabeth Einfeldts? The Elizabeth Einfeldt that I have listed as
their mother was born 22 Oct 1863 in Wisconsin and F. W. Einfeldt
is her father. Can anyone help me out with this?
Moses Zaffke was my husband's grandfather.
Thank you very much for information you can give me on this
subject. Diane Hamilton

Thank you for your inquiry into this and the information you sent. I have communicated with a gentleman who has also researched F. W. Einfeldt's family. He says that Frederich's first wife and a son and daughter came with him from Germany. He also says that Frederich first wife and son died on the ship on the way to America and are buried at sea. I am wondering if Elizabeth Einfeldt is the daughter that came over with him and survived the trip.
