It is said that the good die young and if it is true, it would include Ennis Olmen, the son of John and Christian Engbert Ohmen.  They lost their son before he could grow to manhood.  At the time he was one of seven children in the family of three boys and three girls.  His time on earth was spent on the family farm and in the fields outside of Thorp, Wisconsin.  Now, he lays in wait of a rebirth in the Germania Cemetery in Worden Twp., Clark County, Wisconsin.

The 1900 Federal Census for Clark Co., Wisconsin listed these children for John and Christine Olmen:  May 1886; Emil Aug 1890; Hattie Nov 1891; Emma Dec 1894; Ennis Nov 1896; and Ephraim 1898.

Tila Ohem is buried in the Germania Cemetery, Worden, Clark County, Wisconsin.  She was the daughter of John and Christian Engbert Ohmen who had imigrated from Sweden and were farming in Thorp, Wis. at the time of her birth.  Her time of birth fell between the 1905 and 1910 census, but family records include her with a birth date of 1905, so she must have been born after that census was taken in June.  Since she was no longer a part of the family in 1910, she must have died sometime before she was five years old and she is buried along with two other siblings, Hattie (b. 1891) and Ennis (b. 1896) in what is now a rather abandoned grave site.

When the 1940 Census was taken, Ada and George Diamento Paulos were living and working in Chicago, Illinois.  He was a restaurant manager and she was a cook.  She was thirty-nine and he was forty-six.  George had immigrated from Greece and was a naturalized citizen.  He'd been married three times and this was Ada's third marriage and it was in its 3rd year. Ada had grown up in Thorp, Clark Co., Wis. where her parents, John and Christian Engbert Ohmen, owned a farm after leaving Sweden in the early 1890's.  Ada had a large family and parents who had a twenty year separation in age.  We don't yet know if her father was married prior to marrying her mother or if he might have had other children.  It would seem likely.

Four years after this particular census was taken, Ada was in Seattle, WA where she signed her brother Ephraim's death certificate with her maiden name.  However, at the time of the 1950 census, she and George were living in Oak Park, IL at 350 Harrison Rd. where George was the proprietor of a restaurant.  Ada wasn't listed as having any employment.  He was fifty-six and she was forty-five.

George was listed a second time for the 1950 Census
