The Humbird orchestra will hereafter have its music improved by the addition of a piano to its accouterments. A. F. Simons has purchased an old grand piano from the Koloski family and placed it in Kretschmer's hall. Mr. Bowles was here Tuesday and tuned the instrument and it will be used at the dance next Friday night. Mr. Simons will handle the part.

1905 L.O.T.M Officers; Ladies of The Maccabees (L.O.T.M.) was an auxilary society affiliated with the Masons which sprung up after the Civil War and was first organized in the mid-1880s in groups known as "hives". The Maccabees provided insurance as well as pleasant social gatherings. It was consolidated with The Knights of Maccabees.  Their fraternal activities ended in 1962 when they formed a life insurance company.  Please contact us if you know when the Humbird hive was first formed.
