wpe9.gif (5117 bytes)Susanna Benedict was the wife of William E. Benedict, the oldest son of Sanford W. Benedict, who in turn, was the oldest son of Adonijah Benedict, a pioneer of York Township and Civil War veteran.  Susanna was a daughter of Jeremiah (Jerry) and Mary (nee Jones) Davis who came to York Township from Fond du Lac County in the late 1890s.  Susanna and William E. Benedict ran the Wilcox (York Center) General Store for several years after he bought it from his grandfather, Adonijah.  Around 1917, they moved from the York Center store to the original Sanford W. Benedict homestead in Section 9.  Their children include Lulu Kronberger, Nyle Benedict and Marie Benedict who are also buried in York Center Cemetery.  One of Susanna’s sisters, Belle Davis married Jesse Mortimer and was Helen Lawrence\Sisson’s mother.  Another of Susanna’s sister, Pearl Davis was Loren Hales' first wife.  These sisters along with one of Susanna’s brothers, Jay Davis, are all buried in York Center Cemetery.
