wpe14.gif (10316 bytes)Walter Graves was born in Cambridgeshire, England; a son of John and Mary (nee Allen).[i] Graves.  He married the former Hannah Gibson, a daughter of Edward and Francis (nee Holmes) Gibson at the Methodist Episcopal Church in Oakfield, Fond du Lac County.  Walter and Hannah Graves came to York Township in about 1888 and settled on a farm in Section 28 that is currently owned by a great-grandson, Donald Rowe.  Walter was the father to Edward Graves and Sadie Rowe.  As such he was a grandfather to Glyde Steinich, Verla Hales, and Milford Rowe.  Walter Graves was the husband of the former Hannah Gibson.  In addition, after Hannah died it is believed that he married Hannah's sister, the former Martha Gibson.  Both Hannah and Martha Graves are also buried in York Center Cemetery.
