September 26, 1847 - March 11, 1930
Edna M. (nee Smithers) Lawrence was the second wife of Horace Lawrence, a pioneer of York Township and a Civil War veteran. The Horace Lawrences came to York Township in the 1870s with Horace’s five children from his first wife, Lorinda (nee Windsor) Lawrence. Later in the 1880s, Edna’s parents, William and Lois (nee Knight) Smithers came to York Township. Maggie Hales (who was Albert Hales’ wife), Dora Rowe (who was Edward Rowe’s wife, Edward being William M. Rowe’s brother) and Lois Fulwiler (who was Levi Fulwiler’s wife), were all Edna Smithers’ sisters.
