Fern
(nee Alton) Vandeberg was the daughter of John and Viola (nee Parker) Alton, who

She was a sister to Ida Root, whose husband, Elwin Root, was a son to
George and Emma (nee Gibson) Root, who were early pioneers of York Township and

was also a sister to Viola Alton; the wife of Earl Lawrence (one of

Fern married Horace Vandeberg, a son of
John and Lillian (nee Lawrence)
Vandeberg. John Vandeberg was an

War veteran, and his first wife, the former Lorinda Windsor (a daughter of Anson
Windsor, another York pioneer). Horace
Lawrence was a son of Jesse and Almeda (nee Benedict)
Lawrence, who also came to
York Township in the 1870s.
