HISTORY OF THE LUPIENT FAMILY
Contributed By: Sandra H. Coggeshall
EMILY CATHERINE LUPIENT was born Dec 6, 1851 in Portage, Wisconsin and died Feb 5, 1945 in Necedah, Wisconsin. She married Joshua Wallace "Dick" Porter on Dec 9, 1871 in New Lisbon, Juneau County, Wisconsin. Joshua was born Sep 19, 1841 in Gerard, Pennsylvania, the son of William Porter and Isabelle Shields. The couple had 9 children, 8 living to adulthood. Their names were: Dion, Edna, Guy, Merritt, Mary Isabelle, Joshua, Letitia, Chester, and Frank. Joshua worked as both a River Pilot during Wisconsin’s "lumbering days" and as a farmer near Necedah, Wisconsin. The family lived in Juneau County most of their married lives and have descendants living in Wisconsin and elsewhere.
MOSES LUPIENT was born Apr 1, 1853 in Portage, Wisconsin and died Mar 1, 1927 in Mansfield, South Dakota. He married Flora Philomena Boardman on Mar 1, 1878 in Dorchester, Wisconsin. Flora was born Augl 14, 1860 in Fond Du Lac, the daughter of Theodore Boardman and Flora Philomena Mueller. The couple moved to South Dakota 3 years after their marriage where they homesteaded land. The couple had 2 sons and 1 daughter. Their names were: Frederick, Gertrude, and Isadore. Some of Moses and Flora’s descendants now live in Minnesota and Washington. The gentleman who owns the many Lupient Car Dealerships in the Minneapolis area is one of Moses’ descendants.
I would be happy to hear from any Lupient descendant who might have corrections and/or additions to this information. Direct descendants May also be interested in more information I have on the Lupien/Lupient and co-lateral family lines.
