Gilbert Lawrence

January 5, 1911 - December 8, 1969

Gilbert Lawrence was a son to Horace H. and Lucy (nee Free) Lawrence.  Horace H. Lawrence was the youngest son of Horace A. and Edna (nee Smithers) Lawrence, who were both pioneers of York Township.  Lucy was the daughter of Richard and Hannah Free, who were also earlier settlers of York Township.  He was also the first husband to Helen (nee Mortimer) Sisson.  Helen’s parents were Jesse and Belle (nee Davis) Mortimer and Jesse’s parents were William and Stella Mortimer, who were also York pioneers.  For many years, Helen and Gilbert Lawrence lived on her parent’s farm located on Pray Road in Section 21.  Gilbert Lawrence was a brother to Byrl Lawrence who is also buried in York Center Cemetery.
