I am a descendent of the ASHBY and NELSON families that at the turn of
the 20th century lived in and around the Jeffersonville Ind. and Louisville
Ky. areas. My father was Samuel L. Ashby and his father and mother were
Samuel(?)Ashby and Martha Nelson. My great-grandfather Ashby (first name
unknown) was a Civil War veteran from this area who may have served in
a regiment formed in Jeffersonville. I would appreciate any information
that can be given me on these people or related individuals. Thanking you
in advance, Donald L. Ashby 1024 E. Bissonette Rd.

I am looking for information regarding Issac McCOY(1809-1882) who was the
son of John MCCOY (1782-1859) I believe that Issac was born in Clark County
but am unsure of who his mother was. John McCOY is buried at Silver Creek.
I am very interested in finding marriage and death records for Issac. He
moved to Illinois but where was he buried? Who are his children?

BENGE, BENGES,
LEDFORD, MARTIN,
MARTINS posted by Shirley
Martin Chandler on Monday, April 21, 1997
-
In July, 1943, Homer LEDFORD, of Henryville, IN, wrote a letter to Howard
MARTIN, delineating the MARTIN BENGE ancestry. He signed the letter, Your
Cousin. It begins with Shawnee War Chief BENGE, killed at Big Stone Gap,
VA, 1793, includes Thomas MARTIN of VA, and many other MARTINS and BENGES.
Who is Homer LEDFORD? How is he related to the MARTINS and BENGES? Would
love to contact descendants of this wonderful man. The letter is very precise,
and contains much information.

I'm trying to help someone without e-mail service to find the old APPLEGATE
Cemetery in Clark County. The problem is that the cemetery has either been
moved or destroyed as it is not where it is supposed to be. If you have
any knowledge of APPLEGATEs in Clark County, please get in touch with me
so I can pass the information on to Gail APPLEGATE. This young woman has
been searching for this cemetery off and on for several years with no success
and I'd sure like to help her.
